And now for
you dog lovers... drum roll please! The parks and people of New York
City are very dog friendly and Prospect Park Brooklyn just might be the
friendliest park of all.
Since 1976,
the parks of New York City have had "off leash" hours between 9:00 pm and
9:00 am. It's resulted in increased park use and drastically decreased
crime.
While New
York's nocturnal element walks their dogs in the evening, the park is really
animated between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. Weekends are particularly alive
during this period with happy dogs and their red-eyed human friends.
There are
frequent "everyone invited" dog parties. And what outing isn't complete without a swim in a
country pond, reserved for the furry companions and best friend of
humankind.
